Thoughts and passions are at cross-purposes, and this is the source of many arguments. And it causes many personal frustrations, too. If the energy of this tension can be applied to a deeply intellectual investigation, then satisfaction with the efforts may result. In any case, putting our passions behind some sort of intellectual engagement could be satisfying. There are enough problems, difficulties, and aspirations in and around us to choose from for applying our efforts. This inner push isn't going away for a while. It's better to use it than to let it consume us and make us ill or accident prone, or drive our friends and loved ones away.
With a little effort, we can feel pretty good about ourselves today. Or, if not, then we may overeat or over-indulge ourselves somehow.
